Temple of the Oracle

The very heart of the Asterian faith, the Temple of the Oracle sits above the main city on an outcropping surrounded by tropical forests and tall jagged mountains. Inside the center of the temple resides the Oracle and her assistant priestess. While all are allowed to enter the temple, only the faithful are allowed to venture beyond the first few courtyards. Large and small shrines are dotted throughout the grounds to cater to different worship styles.

The Marketplace

A huge open air market sprawls throughout Delphi beginning at the edges of the temple and trickling out all around. Spices, textiles, colored powders, food, and jewelry are just some of the things you can buy in the marketplace. Haggling is common practice and due to the large pilgrimage each year, prices are fluid and subject to changing. You never know what sort of little treasures you might find.

Senatorial Estate

Despite the Head Priestess being recognized as the formal leader of Delphi, all political power rests with the Senator, elected or reelected every two years. The senator remains in good favor with the people and the Asterians on Delphi, doing all in their power to protect and promote their well-being. As such, the senator is granted a grand estate where traveling officials are invited to stay as well.

Residential District

Residents of Delphi live in close quarter to each other but seem to get along just fine. The residents have a strong sense of community and togetherness and do not find themselves bothered at home by the influx of tourists, who stay closer to the marketplaces and rarely wander into their district. Despite being permanent residents, they are located on the far side of the marketplace away from the temple, meaning a longer walk but fewer crowds at home.

Riverway

Winding throughout Delphi, rivers are a primary source of transportation, often wide to carry people and goods on boats. In addition to the gratuitous source of water, lush fauna and gorgeous waterfalls are common along the riverway, making it a popular spot for tourists.

Pythia

Pythia is Delphi’s only moon and is similar in ecology. Traditionally a place for women who no longer wished to serve as priestesses in the temple on Delphi, a school was created and companions emerged. Companions can be men and women trained in diplomacy, the arts and conversation, as well as more open-minded studies. Despite having left Delphi, Pythians are still very much Asterian.
